My 36 year old brother had the Vagus Nerve Implant procedure done last December. Hewas "turned on", so to speak, in January. Slowly over the last few months the techsat Cyberonics down in San Diego have brought him up to therapeutic levels -- buthis seizures were almost immediately occurring less often and noticeably lessstrong. Also, his sometimes violent and always physically uncontrollable post-ectalperiods are now a rare occurance, and when they do occur are no longer as lengthyin duration nor as "physical". For the first time in many, many, years our entirefamily is feeling quite hopeful and positive regarding his intense hope to someday,as he puts it, get a life. He has right lobe partial complex seizures (what used tobe called psycho-motor seizures) from the Pertussis vaccine in the DTP shot when hewas an infant.
