VNS - Rachel's Story

My daughter Rachel had a cancerous brain tumor when she was 10. It was removed and radiated and has never returned. Her seizures are another story. After many years of different meds and surgeries she had the VNS implanted 3 weeks ago and it was turned on 6 days ago. She is now 30 and was seizuring daily. She has had 2 very short seizures in the past 6 days and I will keep you updated. It was very reassuring for me to find this website with actual accounts of people with the implant and I hope to be of use to others with questions that need to be answered.

This is an update on Rachel Regan. she had the implant in April of 2001. this is June 22nd 2001 and Rachel's seizures have definitly been reduced by at least 50%. She is going in Mon. the 25th for an adjustment. she is having less seizures, they are less in duration and she is on the least amount of medicine ever. She does not feel the vibration nor does it affect her voice. so far so good and I will keep you posted.
